The Eagle’s Final Flight—The Fall of the Aztec Empire*
*(Beginner Committee)
The year is 1519, and the Aztec Empire’s reign over the Valley of Mexico is more powerful than ever. Aztec warriors continue to conquer foreign lands to expand the quickly-growing reach of the empire and capture further wealth. Feared by many, the Aztec Triple Alliance has successfully established a complex system of social, political, and economic governance over numerous subservient city-states. However, under the splendor of Tenochtitlan’s regional dominance lie the cracks of potential weaknesses. The empire’s population has grown and needs more resources than ever, but the Aztecs must control large areas and quell rebellions to ensure its stability. Most importantly, unbeknownst to the leadership of the Aztec Empire, ships that are currently crossing the Atlantic Ocean will bring Spanish conquistadors, and their aspirations of wealth and conquest, to Mesoamerican land.
In this committee, you will have the chance to rewrite history. Whether the scourge of plague falls upon Aztec cities or foreign invaders threaten the stability of the empire, we must find a way to protect our people from disease and conquest. You must use your ingenuity to strategize in defence of the empire, whether that is by using military tactics, diplomacy, or rituals to defend the Triple Alliance in the name of emperor Moctezuma. Your fight for the survival of the Aztec Empire begins now.
