Too Big to Fail—2008 Financial Crisis*
ONLINE COMMITTEE
The 2008 financial crisis was by far the most influential economic event since the Great Depression and led to a significant decline in economic growth in the years following it. In this committee, delegates will have to face a wide variety of challenges associated with the crisis. Delegates will represent key economists within the U.S. government, as well as heads of the major banks, and will need to work together in order to solve the economic, social, and political ramifications of the crisis.
Over the course of the weekend, we hope that delegates will gain a greater appreciation as to the severity of the crisis, as well as how its ramifications are still felt to this day. Delegates will need to come up with creative solutions to deal with the mortgage crisis, and ensure that the long term impacts of the crash are mitigated.
The Dais is excited to meet all of the delegates at SSUNS 2021
