Commission on the Status of Women 2100 (CSW)*
*(Advanced Committee)
Welcome to the Commission on the Status of Women!
The year is 2100 and the CSW remains the principal intergovernmental body dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women across the globe. While the rights of women have greatly improved, there are still some ways to go in supporting the prosperity of women worldwide. In this committee, we will be tackling the topic of reproductive rights. It is worth nothing, however, that access to abortive rights, commonplace contraceptives, and well-known reproductive methods are no longer the central issue, as the majority of countries have accepted these as basic rights. It is time to progress forward and discuss ideas of assisted reproductive technologies and innovative contraceptive methods.
In the year 2100, there is an increasing demand for reproductive innovation to aid women and queer couples to reproduce without the burden often put on female bodies. That being said, these technologies raise serious ethical dilemmas that delegates must consider. Furthermore, in the year 2100, the issue of overpopulation weighs heavy on every country, and the use of contraceptive methods is becoming more and more pivotal to the survival of our species. Indeed, while female contraceptives have long been available, this committee opens the discussion to male contraceptive methods as well as semi-permanent/reversible contraceptive methods for all sexes.
The world has changed tremendously since 2021, and the CSW must ensure the progress of women’s rights in such an ever-changing world. Delegates, it is up to YOU to determine how your country will respond to these innovative technologies, and in doing so, to rewrite the narrative of your respective countries.
The Dais is excited to meet all of the delegates at SSUNS 2021!
