Mara Matilda Munteanu

Meet Mara (she/her), our extraordinary Administration Coordinator! Born in Romania, Mara was raised in Montreal. She is currently finishing her second year, majoring in Political Science with a double minor in International Development and Italian Studies. From Volleyball and Pilates to shopping and literature, with Oscar Wilde's 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' being a personal favorite of hers, Mara enjoyed a wide range of activities. She is passionate about languages and is in the midst of learning Italian. With her experience in McMUN as a DRC Staffer in 2024, Mara is coming equipped to SSUNS 2024. In addition, Mara wrote a book on the impacts of divorce on children which she hopes to publish someday. Her advice to incoming delegates is to come into the conference with an open mind, not to be afraid to reach out to the SSUNS team, and most importantly have fun!

Veronica Rasem

Meet Veronica, a committed events coordinator for SSUNS 2024! From Huntington Beach, California, she is currently majoring in Organizational Behavior. Veronica’s MUN journey began in her early high school years, where she excelled at the prestigious Huntington Beach High School MUN conference, recognized as the most competitive high school conference in California. Alongside her MUN experience, she was also the president of the debate club, where she organized multiple debates. Concurrently, Veronica was the president of the Ripple Kindness club, leading initiatives to engage students in community service endeavors. Veronica’s achievements stem beyond MUN, debate, and community service; as a synchronized ice skater with 6 years of experience, she has competed across the states in regionals. Veronica encourages delegates at SSUNS to maintain an open mind and not feel intimidated by differing opinions; she hopes you all embrace the opportunity to learn and grow from the diverse perspectives you encounter.

Introducing Lara Cevasco (she/her), one of our outstanding Events Coordinators for SSUNS 2024! Hailing from Saint-Germain-en-Laye in France, Lara is a Political Science major with minors in Economics and International Development. She continues her high involvement in McGill’s international community and campus life from her position as VP Events for the Spanish and Latin American Student’s Association (SLASA) and her volunteer work for Heart4heart and McGill DriveSafe! She is passionate about music, especially singing, and her high interest in traveling pairs well with her love for diversity and celebration of different cultures, which she hopes to see for herself at SSUNS 2024 amid the rigorous debate between our beloved delegates.

Eliza Hamilton

Introducing our incredible finance coordinator, the amazing Eliza (she/her/elle)! Coming to us all the way from London, England, she is currently enrolled in her first year at McGill pursuing an Honours degree in Economics. Eliza began her MUN journey in high school and upon joining McGill, she decided to continue as a part of the McGill delegation team. In her free time, you can find her on the lacrosse field, or starting a new knitting project! She hopes that all the delegates have fun and explore during their time in the beautiful city of Montreal.

 
 
 

Tanguy Lacroix

Introducing Tanguy, one of our amazing equity coordinators! Born in Belgium, Tanguy spent his first decade in France, followed by five years in Singapore and three years in Amsterdam. Currently, Tanguy resides in Canada, where he pursues a Joint Honours degree in Economics and Finance with a minor in Philosophy. Tanguy is fluent in English and French and a bit of Mandarin. Tanguy's model UN experience is quite an adventure. He began as a delegate in school where he became President of the school club. Afterwards, he became Secretary General for his high school conference. Upon joining McGill, he contributed as a committee staffer for MCMUN 2024 before joining SSUNS 2024. Tanguy also has many hobbies: he likes to read, watch films, and run. His advice to all delegates is to have a great time and to not only speak up but also listen to others.

Sam Au

Meet Sam (she/her), one of our extraordinary equity coords! Coming to us from Vancouver, Sam is a U1 Kinesiology major who loves being outside and exploring nature. Her other hobbies include reading, playing sports, and animals (she has a cat that she adores!). She is also involved in various campus activities such as SAPEK (Student Association of Physical Education and Kinesiology) where she is a social coordinator. Other than her kinesiology related interests, she is also a pioneer for the protection of minorities’ rights, and women empowerment in the realm of politics! Her advice to the incoming delegates of SSUNS 2024 is to have fun and enjoy the experience! SSUNS is an incredible opportunity, and simply being able to enjoy the present moment and absorb your surroundings can ultimately teach you so much :) 

 
 
 

Audrey Gheorghe

Meet Audrey (she/her), one of our dedicated Equity Coordinators! Audrey is currently in U1 studying Political Science with a minor in International Development. Audrey is no stranger to MUN: she previously volunteered as an events staffer at McMUN and as a junior peacemaker for IRSAM. She is a fervent advocate for foreign policy and women’s rights in the Middle East and Central Asia, as well as women migrant status’ in East and South East Asia. She also loves to play piano, read, and do yoga. She wants to remind the brilliant delegates of SSUNS 2024 who will embark on this incredible journey of diplomacy and teamwork, that your voices matter and hold immeasurable power. In the face of obstacles, remain resilient, support one another, and most importantly celebrate your successes! Remember to have fun along the way. Tiffany Jiang

Meet Tiffany (she/her/elle) one of our amazing registration coordinators for SSUNS 2024! Tiffany grew up in Langley, BC, before moving to Montreal. She is currently a Political Science and History student in her first year at McGill. Tiffany is very experienced in MUN, as she has been involved since grade 8. After staffing at McMUN, Tiffany is hugely excited to work as a coord for SSUNS this year. Outside of MUN, Tiffany loves to play hockey and read to pass the time. For our delegates this year, she really encourages them to not to be afraid of putting themselves out there!

Meet Lara, one of our dedicated registration coord! Lara is currently in the faculty of Science and she is so excited to staff for SSUNS! With an impressive background in music, Lara has been playing the kanun professionally for six years, playing at events for brands like Hermes and Dolce&Gabbana. Her musical talent extends to solo concerts at renowned venues such as the House of Pianos and The Theater of Digital Arts. Alongside her musical pursuits, Lara has excelled in Arabic poetry competitions across the UAE and Middle East. In the realm of Model United Nations, Lara’s journey began in 8th grade, where she has since chaired and delegated in over 20 conferences, including serving as the head of chairs on the executive board of AMSIMUN. Eager to meet delegates, Lara looks forward to the fruitful debates to come and offering her support and encouragement throughout the event

Anastasia Penton

Meet Ana! Originally from Strasbourg, France, she also lived in Ottawa and Toronto. Ana is currently in her first year for a Bachelor of Arts majoring in English with a minor in Psychology. In SSUNS, she is undertaking the role of videographer so make sure to keep a look out for her because she’ll likely be pointing her camera at you! Ana’s MUN experiences go beyond SSUNS 2024: she was a staffer last SSUNS or at McMUN! Otherwise, you may have competed with her during her days as a high school delegate in conferences all over Europe! When Ana isn’t taking videos for SSUNS, she enjoys reading, writing and traveling the world with her friends. Ana’s advice to you is to not be afraid to speak up, and to make sure you enjoy your time as this is a very unique experience where you’ll meet amazing new people.

 
 
 

Rory Clune

Meet Rory (he/him), our extraordinary Stakeholder Outreach Coordinator! Born in Ireland and raised in Dubai, Rory moved to Montreal when he got accepted at McGill and is now a U1 student majoring in Economics with a minor in Political Science. Rory enjoys doing a variety of activities, however football and basketball are his favorites. In terms of MUN experience, Rory participated as a resource staffer for McMUN2024 and as an events staffer for SSUNS2023! Besides these experiences, Rory is very involved with his community. In Dubai, Rory participated in various volunteering commitments, while also being involved with specific organizations. His initiatives have been centered around his community and he wishes to continue getting involved in Montreal. Rory is looking forward to working with his team as well as meeting the delegates. His advice for delegates is to remain composed, to not be afraid to reach out to the SSUNS Team and most importantly to have fun! 

Bianca Tri

Graphic Design Coordinator

Meet Bianca (she/they/he), our Graphic Design Coordinator! Born a proud Torontonian, Bianca moved to Montréal to pursue their degree in Art History, with double minors in Marketing and Gender Studies. Over the past three years, they have been active on campus as the Vice President of the McGill Filipino Students Association, graphic designer of the Art History and Communications Journal, and member of the McGill Mock Trial team. Their model UN experience began with SSUNS2021 as a volunteer committee staffer, and they have participated as a dais member ever since. When not designing merch for SSUNS, Bianca can be found practicing for their intramural soccer team and studying for the LSATs. For this year’s conference, Bianca implores delegates to broaden their perspectives by looking at topics that don’t seem related to politics. The arts can reveal many important ideas that’ll make debates more complex and interesting!

 
 
 

Mateo Alvarez

Meet Mateo (he/him), one of our dedicated events coordinators for SSUNS 2024! Mateo is a first-year student majoring in Psychology at McGill University. Originally from Ecuador, he has spent his entire life in Montreal and has always known he wanted to pursue a path focused on helping others. Mateo’s MUN journey began in CEGEP, where he competed in over ten conferences, including his personal favorite, NAMUN and HMUN, and discovered a passion for diplomacy and debate. Outside of MUN, Mateo loves to stay involved and is an avid anime fan and loves watching shows like Mob Psycho 100 (fitting with his major right!) His advice to delegates is never to feel intimidated by more experienced participants—embrace every opportunity to learn and grow. He hopes SSUNS 2024 will be an inspiring experience that allows everyone to meet their expectations and leave with newfound confidence and knowledge!

Jean Laumonier

Meet Jean (he/him), one of our impressive Events Coordinators for SSUNS 2024! All the way from the stunning Versailles, France, Jean is currently a third-year student at McGill, double majoring in Political Science and Economics. With previous experience staffing McMun, he is ready to jump into SSUNS with enthusiasm and excitement. Beyond the social sciences, he’s passionate about restoring the climate and is even a member of the Little Forests McGill club, which encourages biodiversity in Montréal! In his future career, Jean hopes to put his degree to good use in pursuit of his love for the environment. A quick fun fact about Jean is that he practices judo, a modern Japanese martial art, back in France! Heading into the conference, he leaves this advice for incoming delegates: if you’re having fun, you’ll succeed!

 
 
 

Sienna Gigliotti

Sienna was born and raised in the small town of Vancouver, on the Canadian west coast. After competing as a delegate at multiple conferences, she decided to join SSUNS as a DRC coord. Sienna is pursuing a double major in international development and art history. In her free time, Sienna plays dodgeball, she is even captain of the team! She is also Head of Academics at Junior Peace Makers, where she and her dedicated team scavenge through the hallways and classrooms of elementary schools to teach them about sustainability, internet safety and global citizenship. Her word to future delegates is: Don’t worry about what other people think, you’re most likely never going to see them again, so please, don’t take what people are saying too seriously, and try to make the most of it!

Meet Isabelle (she/her), one of our amazing DRC Coordinators for SSUNS 2024! Hailing from Ottowa, she is now in her third year at McGill University, majoring in Political Science and minoring in International Development Studies and Sociology. She had previously served as the Events Coordinator for McMUN, and is excited to reprise the role this year. Isabelle is also an editor for McGill’s Journal of Political Science, where she manages the Canadian Politics section. She is also a member of the McGill Debate Union! In addition to her outstanding academic and extracurricular commitments, Isabelle figure skates in her free time and is a hiking fanatic. Her advice for future delegates is to use this great opportunity to meet other delegates who have traveled from all around the world carrying the same passion for Model UN as you, and to take time to explore the breathtaking city of Montreal!

Meet Pedro (he/him), one of our amazing Delegate Resource Center coordinators for SSUNS 2024! Born in New York, Pedro lived in Ottawa for 10 years before coming to McGill. Currently a U4 student, doing honors in Political Sciences and a double minor in Economy and International Development, Pedro likes to play hockey during his free time, but also to travel, his favorite destination being Brazil. It is not his first UN experience since he had the opportunity to be an operation coordinator for SSUNS 2023 and is currently chief of operations since two years at McMun. His advice for delegates is to be sure to explore Montreal and to not be shy to come say hi to the DRC!

Meet Lauren (she/her) one of SSUNS’ talented design coordinators in the PR portfolio. Lauren was born and raised in Toronto and is now in her 4th year majoring in economics and art history at McGill. During high school, Lauren participated numerous times in Model UN conferences both as a delegate and part of the secretariat, with crisis committees being her favorite. She was able to carry on her MUN journey at McGill with SSUNS, marking her third year of involvement. Beyond Model UN, Lauren is passionate about student government, visual arts, and visiting museums. She also loves taking a Bixi around the beautiful city of Montréal. From that, she encourages all delegates to make the most of their time in Montréal and explore the city during the conference weekend!

Meet Céline (she/her), our Design Coordinator for SSUNS 2024! Originally from Lebanon, Celine has moved around a lot before settling in Montreal a few years ago. She’s currently a second-year student at McGill University, majoring in International Development with minors in Social Entrepreneurship and Communications. Last year, she took part in various MUN conferences, with the ICAO committee being her absolute favourite. Outside of MUN, Céline enjoys exploring different restaurants with her friends and staying active! She’s also deeply passionate about humanitarian work, especially onsite aid, and hopes to one day join a global humanitarian team. Her advice to all delegates is to trust yourself and know that you’re capable of putting yourself out there, no matter your level of experience. Céline is so excited to meet all of you amazing delegates and is proud to be part of the team making this unforgettable experience a reality!

Fleur LeMercier

Meet Fleur (she/her), one of our amazing operations coordinators! Born in France, Fleur spent six years in Lisbon, Portugal before coming to McGill. She is currently in her third year studying political science and international development, and is looking forward to her upcoming exchange semester in Hong Kong. In addition to her work with SSUNS, Fleur is a coordinator for the Commerce Administration Student Charity Organization to fundraise for the Montreal Children’s Hospital, and has recently started playing squash. Reflecting on her own experience becoming involved with SSUNS last year despite having little model UN experience, her advice to delegates is not to be shy! Get the most out of this incredible event by connecting with other delegates, and being open to trying something new.

 
 
 

Krupa Patel

Krupa is an incredibly enthusiastic and driven individual. She's a U1 student in Desautels majoring in accounting with a focus on finance, and she's lived in Toronto, having moved six times within Ontario. Krupa's passion for Model UN runs deep, having been the Secretary-General of her high school's Model UN club and attending multiple conferences, including SUNS as a delegate. Now, as an Operations Coordinator, she is responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of daily operations by coordinating between various teams and departments, while managing workflows. Her interest in model UN is highly related to the fact that she plans to eventually practice law in the United States. Her enthusiast and energy is exactly what SSUNS needs ! Krupa looks forward to working with everyone and continue her SSUNS journey at the university level.

Francesca Foy

Hometown: Angra Dos Reis, Brazil

Meet Francesca (she/her), one of SSUNS 2024’s amazing Operations Coordinators! Originally from Angra dos Reis, Brazil, Francesca is currently in her third year studying Finance and Managing for Sustainability. Aside from SSUNS, Francesca is involved in a number of extracurricular activities. She is a DRC Coordinator for McMUN 2025, a MYAD delegate working on the UN Commission for Social Development (CSocD) and a Sustainability Project Fund Ambassador for the McGill Office of Sustainability. Outside of class, Francesca enjoys yoga, Pilates and sailing. She encourages delegates to use SSUNS as an important learning opportunity. She urges them to speak up and not be afraid to have their voices heard. Most importantly, she hopes the delegates have fun and enjoy their conference experience!

 
 
 

Joia Tavares

Meet Joia Tavares, SSUNS Ceremonies Coordinator and aspiring entertainment lawyer extraordinaire! Hailing from Mississauga, Ontario, Joia is a U1 student at McGill studying Political Science and GSFS (Gender, Sexuality, Feminist, and Social Justice Studies). Although she’s never been involved with model UN, she has a love for law and debate, and joined SSUNS thanks to her roommate’s advice! She's here to ensure things run smoothly (and maybe learn a thing or two about diplomacy along the way). Joia's passion lies in the arts, with a background in acting, stage management, and the technical side of theatre production. Her future? Representing the biggest stars-watch out, Hollywood! Her advice to delegates? Don't be intimidated, you just might have more experience than the staff.

Mazen Asali

Meet Mazen, one of SSUNS’ amazing operation coordinators! Born in Montreal and having grown up in Jordan, Mazen is back in Montreal for his second year at McGill university studying computer science and biology with a minor in entrepreneurship. Despite his interest in science and technology innovation, Mazen is passionate about politics and policy making, and at McGill is involved in SSUNS, McMUN as well as McGill politics as an associate senator for Science Undergraduate Society. He was a DRC staff for SSUNS 2023, and is very excited this year to join the team of coordinators this year and help make the conference come to life! Mazen’s words of encouragement to delegates is to step out of your comfort zone and not be afraid to do something even if it's unconventional.

Meet Defne (she/her), our talented Photography Coordinator for SSUNS 2024! Originally from Istanbul, Turkiye, she is now a first-year Political Science major minoring in Philosophy. In addition to her passion for photography, Defne has an extensive background in Model UN, having participated in the Harvard National United Nations during her CEGEP years. She is also serving as the Vice Chair for McMUN this year. When she isn't capturing moments through her lens or engaging in MUN activities, Defne enjoys a variety of physical pursuits, including tango dancing, hiking, and volleyball, as well as relaxing with crochet projects. Defne’s advice to incoming delegates is to take this as an amazing opportunity to develop their public speaking and social skills since it’s such an encouraging and nourishing environment! 

Dalia El Nsouli

Meet Dalia, one of the talented Videography Coordinators for SSUNS 2024! Currently in her second year at McGill, she is pursuing a major in International Development with minors in Economics and Social Entrepreneurship. Born and raised in Lebanon, Dalia moved to Canada to continue her studies. Her Model UN journey started at NMUN through McGill, where she had the opportunity to compete in New York in the cSOCd committee. With extensive MUN experience, including participation in Model ICAO and QMUN, she has gained invaluable skills and formed lasting friendships along the way. Dalia is excited to welcome this year’s delegates to SSUNS and is confident it will be a memorable experience for all. Her advice? Barthelemy Sere de Rivieres

Barthélémy was born and raised in Paris until the age of 10, when he moved to LA, USA. It’s here in LA that he would first dip his toes into the world of MUN through his school MUN club. This will be his first SSUNS, but rest assured, Barthélémy is ready to channel all his creativity as your videographer coord using his drone, as he does not get to do so in his software engineering major. In his free time, you can find him engaging in a wide array of sports, such as tennis, biking, running and water polo. His words of advice for the incoming delegates is to make the most of it! It’s not just about debating but about connecting with the people you meet who come in from around the world; they’re great to learn from. Most importantly, have fun!

Sam Peuchot

Meet Sam (she/her), one of our incredible Wellness Coordinators for SSUNS 2024. She was born in Paris, France before moving to Lisbon, Portugal for six years. She is a third-year student in Honours in International Development, with a minor in Social Entrepreneurship. Outside of SSUNS, Sam volunteers with Mealcare, a food redistribution organization for homeless shelters. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball and traveling. Sam can’t wait for her exchange in Mexico City next semester! Her advice to delegates is to embrace the experience and be sure to bring a lot of warm clothes!

 
 
 

Gillian Vetters

Meet Gillian (she/her), one of our amazing Wellness Coordinators for SSUNS 2024! Born and raised in Calgary, she’s currently in U0 at McGill, exploring the Freshman Program with an eye on majoring in Political Science. A seasoned SSUNS participant, Gillian attended twice as a delegate and has dreamed of experiencing the other side of the conference since she was 16. SSUNS was the highlight of her high school years, and now she’s excited to help make this year’s conference just as memorable for the delegates. This fall, Gillian also joined McGill’s Delegation Team and McMUN. Outside of MUN, she’s a soccer enthusiast, having played for 11 years, and a lover of books. In her free time, you’ll definitely find her exploring Montreal’s best coffee shops. Gillian’s advice to the delegates this year is stick to yourself, because that shines through and will make your experience even better.
