Dear Delegates & Faculty Advisors,

We are so excited to see you in November at the 32nd  iteration of the Secondary Schools United Nations Symposium. This year, SSUNS has the honour of working with Make-A-Wish® | Rêves d’enfants Canada as our Official Charity! Make-A-Wish® | Rêves d’enfants Canada creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We are on a quest to bring every eligible child's wish to life because a wish is an integral part of a child's treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. As an independently operating affiliate of Make-A-Wish® International, Make-A-Wish® | Rêves d’enfants Canada is part of the network of the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization. We serve children in every community in Canada, and in 50 countries worldwide. Make-A-Wish® | Rêves d’enfants Canada has granted almost 39,000 wishes over the past 40 years with 1,389 of them last year alone.

This year we’re setting a goal of raising $3000 for Make-A-Wish® | Rêves d’enfants Canada! To help us achieve this goal we are introducing a new pre-conference fundraising competition! In addition to the regular delegation awards we offer every year (Best/Outstanding Small and Large Delegation), we are pleased to announce that we will be offering a new delegation award this year. Based on the results from this competition we will be offering the Most Charitable Delegation Charity Award to the delegation that raises the most money. This will be a non-performance-based award that every delegation is eligible for!

The goal of this fundraising competition is to authentically raise money for Make-A-Wish® | Rêves d’enfants Canada at your respective institutions. The goal is for delegations to come up with creative ways to fundraise. Maybe you’ll all be able to tap into your baking skills and run a tasty bake sale or clean all the local cars in your area with a car wash! The rules and table you need to submit to us will follow this letter. We hope you all put your best feet forward and raise an earth-shattering amount of money for an incredible cause.  We cannot wait to see all your fundraising initiatives!!!!
